the final todo list.

Okay. Things left to do on the project before I can say done, in no particular order:

  • PHP needs to be written so people can add pictures and comments.
  • PHP needs to be written so people can report bad pictures/comments.
  • The front page needs to be rewritten.
  • A better default picture needs to be found (rockridge.jpg, which isn't even in SF, won't cut it. I think I have a shot of Embarcadero that'll work, though.) ...and changed out.
  • The future of the project needs to be written.
  • A way to contact the admin (i.e me) needs to be written.
  • It would be a good thing if all fourteen neighborhoods got descriptions, but those can be snuck in the db after the project is "finished" if need be.
  • Need to produce a report on the database for my database class
  • Need to produce powerpoint slides for my database class.
  • Need to produce powerpoint slides for my talk on Wednesday about the project.
  • Do I need to make a final report on the project? Check this. ...emailed phil, waiting for an answer

As these are finished, I'll cross them off. I have a hard deadline of Tuesday 4 PM for most of this. The class stuff is due at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, so that'll be high on the priority list tomorrow, although powerpoint slides are probably going to be fairly easy to put together. But two more days mostly glued to this chair, and then I'm done.

Well, except for completing 255. But that's something completely different!

fiddly detail

The sysadmin in me knows it's true:

"If just one piece of mail gets lost, well, they'll just think they forgot to send it. But if *two* pieces of mail get lost, hell, they'll just think the other guy hasn't gotten around to answering his mail. And if *fifty* pieces of mail get lost, can you imagine it, if *fifty* pieces of mail get lost, why they'll think someone *else* is broken! And if 1Gb of mail gets lost, they'll just *know* that Arpa is down and think it's a conspiracy to keep them from their God given right to receive Net Mail ..."

More to the point, though, augh, augh, augh. Need to do this report.

More to the point, though, augh, augh, augh. Need to do this report. <a href=""http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/academics/courses/is257/s04/Assignments_New.html">http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/academics/courses/is257/s04/Assignments_New.html</a> (scroll down to final report). Making it harder on myself is that I didn't do the previous assignment, as that was the point in the semester I was mired in an ugly depression and couldn't think. But god, some of the stuff he wants...I mean, I understand the php scripts that interact with the database. That's fine, but *reports*? *sigh*

One of these days, I'll figure out why I wanted this degree, I will. That day isn't today.

here we go.

my desk is getting unweildy again.

trying to write two reports. One is the aforementioned fiddly details report, the other is a more comprehensive one on my entire project.

One of the things I guess I will do tomorrow is go into SIMS really early and see if I can get both reports into .pdf form. but that requires getting them written. Which will be tonight's task.

Yeah. a bit over 25 hours to go.

now if I can just write, things will be good. Spare energy reserves, I need you now...

pretentiousness suits me.

the cursor is mocking me!

anyway, I've started typing. There's still a long way for me to go and little sleep for the weary, but I did come up with a kickass (if pretentious) title for my master's project. That title is Building a City Digital: The Genesis and Development of the Neighborhood Project.

anyway, I go back to work trying to describe my database. Stupid trying to put in words what he'll have in pictures, but okay.
